Type of beans to use for espresso?
To make real espresso, do i have to buy espresso beans or can i just go to the local walmart and find one of their Coffee grinding machines and then choose a bag of coffe beans from their selection and just grind it using the espresso setting ? can i just use any type of beans like a hazelnut roast
I have heard that its this simple but to use the darker roasts. not sure if thats true or not.
The type of bean is almost always going to be the same for good quality coffee, arabica beans. The real difference is the roast, with espresso roasts being among the most highly Roasted Coffee beans around.
You do not have to use an espresso roast to make good espresso. You can also use an Italian Roast or a French Roast and get very good espresso out of it. I would not recommend lighter roasts or flavored coffees (since they use lighter roasts), as they will not give you nearly as concentrated a flavor as the darker roasts will for espresso.
My guess is that your Wal-Mart will have some loose beans in a darker roast. Grind them at the finest setting and try them out, it should work out fine.

About the Vineyards Vineyards Our SVR is an expression of our winemaking style. We evaluate the characteristics of several varietals from different vineyards to create our ultimate reserve red wine. For 2007, we found the ideal balance of mountain, bench and valley fruit in grapes primarily from Diamond Mountain (33 percent), Yountville (33 percent) and Rutherford (16 percent). Each of these distinct regions contributes a unique profile, building intricate layers and complex character in this special reserve wine. Winemaking Each year, we evaluate grapes from our finest vineyards to craft a reserve blend that has a dense, dark fruit core and supple, chocolaty tannins. We want a wine that is complex and ageworthy, but accessible enough to enjoy right away. In 2007, our Cabernet Sauvignon, which makes up 66 percent of the blend, showed fleshy, well-balanced fruit, which was perfectly complemented by the excellent structure and well-built tannins of our Merlot from up the valley. The remainder is Cabernet Franc, which so impressed us with its effusive aromas, rich texture and lovely chocolate-cherry and violet notes that we used it for 7 percent of the blend.
