Ormont "Kate" (Goldsboro, NC) (REAL NAME) I bought it because I have not been able to find something like that in stores (Wal-Mart, Target, Kmart, Bed Bath & Beyond) I checked. I heated the soup of split peas the first morning at 7 am, and water heated in a kettle too. I poured water from the kettle into the thermos to warm it, then Dumped it and added the soup. I put in my "built" catch-all and went to school (nursing school). At 12 I went to eat my soup, but it was still very hot! So I ate the rest of my breakfast and left for later. I put the lid on and at 3:30 it opened back up for a snack and it was just right – still warm but not hot. I recommend this fund! I will to school an hour's drive from home and can not afford to eat out. It helped me enormously to be able to bring my own food. An excellent product! I can not imagine that you really want to hang your backpack for a hike Winter " either. It's just crazy. What happened to those plastic wide-mouth thermos of my youth?
